About OFBS

Irish squeezed-middle squad. Big plans. Bills first.

Hi, I’m Shauna. I’m trying to buy a house and keep the lights on. Ambitious, I know.

I’m married, raising a little girl in Ireland, and doing that familiar juggling act: giving her the best life I can, keeping up with the bills and scraping together the pennies for a mortgage deposit.

Unfortunately, “we have lovely plans for the place” doesn’t count as a deposit.

Welcome to the squeezed middle. We have aspirations. We also have an electricity bill that would like a word.

A sense of humour. And preferably a spreadsheet.

I want a home of our own, a bit of breathing room and enough left over to enjoy the life we’re working so hard to afford. Getting organised helps me see what I’m dealing with. Having a laugh helps with the rest.

That’s where Oh For Budget’s Sake comes in.

I’m building practical money tools and cheeky prints for people who want to get their sh*t together without suddenly becoming a completely different person.

A spreadsheet can be useful and still be called “Sh*t, where did my money go?” In fact, that feels like a perfectly reasonable opening question.

A little wild. Still allowed a plan.

OFBS is for the big dreamers, the bill jugglers and anyone trying to make their money stretch without losing their sense of humour.

The aim is simple: clear tools, a little encouragement and absolutely no expectation that you’ll wake up tomorrow as someone who enjoys life admin.

I’m figuring it out too. With a family, a house goal and a firm belief that being organised shouldn’t require a personality transplant.

Broke. But organised.
Or at least getting there.
